It works as a rough cut guide. It will get you close to what you need, which is very tough (almost impossible ) to do by eye without destroying the drum
We reccomend that you leave approx 1" extra metal above the cut line, so that you can work with any variances in the drum. Note: All drums are different in diamter, and ridges, etc. so this template is NOT 100% perfect. It just make a tough job easier. User bears responsibily for cutting their drums safely and wearing safety gear.
Because of the ridge and welds, it can be tough to get the template to lay perfectly on the smoker.
Please note: this is only sold as a guide and user should cut a little smaller than the cut mark and than trim to fit, especially if they are using drums with ridges as they will need to be notched in. Also at the point, we like to round it a little, not so pointy.
